Dirty System

Systems with a dirty air filter can kill the efficiency of a system. When your filter gets dirty those particles and dust bunnies go past your filter and plug up the blower wheel and evaporator coil, significantly reducing your air flow making the system run longer and harder.

Thick Winter Coat

A dirty condensing coil will make the system over heat and run harder consuming more electricity (try wearing thick winter clothing and run a mile in the hot summer). Keeping the unit clean by washing it out can keep the system operating as it was designed.

Old Thermostat

Your old thermostat can get out of calibration and make the system run longer.

Mismatched

A general rule of thumb is 500 square per ton of Air conditioning. This is not an efficient way to size a HVAC system, a proper heat load calculation needs to be performed, depending on the amount of insulation you have in your home including windows and other factors you could have an oversized system!
A customer of ours had a mismatched system with a oversized outdoor condensing unit. They had the proper sized system installed for their home and their summer utility bills were cut in half!

NEED A SYSTEM UPGRADE?

AC systems are rated in SEER ratings.

"SEER" stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency ratio. Today’s base model system is rated at 14 SEER. Upgrading to a new system will significantly reduce your energy consumption when the system is most needed during the summer and winter months.

See the above image to view savings based on the rating of a matched system.
